WWB WATCH: It may be time to put down your fork and get ‘FED UP’–New documentary feeds you with knowledge your life depends upon…

THE WATCH: You know the expression ‘It’s not personal’ that gets used in the business world when something effects you personally? Well I’m here to suggest when it comes to anything marketed to you–it is PERSONAL and for better or for worse it’s also POLITICAL. Why do you have to pay attention to politics you ask?  Well, World Wise Beauty, because that is where all the major decisions are made about the ‘society’ you live in. If you would like to really pay attention to ‘food issues’ and the politics surrounding them I recommend following Marion Nestle’s Food Politics blog.  But for now let’s focus on why food and specifically fast food has become so insidious and why it should be a very personal issue for you…

In my last ‘The Watch’ post I shared this, “When it comes to smart food choices in a ‘Healthy’ fast food chain, we consumers still have to consider the amount of salt, sugar, natural flavors ( chemicals), and preservatives which are often the culprits behind many chronic health conditions. For example, when we do try the new fast chains, we will still have to consider the ‘tasty delicious sauces’ we love in our fast foods as they are usually high in fat, salt or sugar. This leads us back to the big questions ‘what’s in the food and how much’?” Now I would like to expand on this statement…

WHAT MATTERS: Almost everything you consume is controlled by the powers that be (both government and corporations) and often your ‘well-being’ isn’t their main priority. So how do you make ‘our health and wellness’ their priority? Sometimes you have to get ‘Fed Up’ and the new documentary out this month appropriately named ‘Fed Up’ just might get you to put down your fork and start wielding your power with your pen, vote and most importantly your dollar! Consumer power is true power in a capitalistic society and it only works when you use it wisely…

WWB TAKEAWAY: Hope you get a chance to see this documentary movie narrated by Katie Couric and produced by Laurie David ( producer of an Inconvenient Truth). Below is the trailer to pass on and recommend to friends. And please remember almost everything is personal–especially the culture YOU create and live in. Begin by making your home, community and city a ‘wellness culture’ so your kids can live a healthy, happy and long life. It’s not too much to ask or demand! And I repeat it is PERSONAL.

Truly Herself,
Lauroly
